Nobel Prize in Chemistry awarded to longtime SIBYLS user David Baker

David Baker, one of SIBYLS longest and most committed users, was awarded the Nobel Prize for Chemistry for his work in protein design. SAXS data collected from around 3,000 samples sent by the Baker Lab to the SIBYLS beamline over many years contributed to key advancements in the Baker Lab’s breakthroughs in protein design.

Since 2017, SIBYLS contributed to 23 Baker papers alone. You can find these papers on our publication pages starting with a recently published Nature paper, “De novo design of proteins housing excitonically coupled chlorophyll special pairs.”

Read more here about the Advanced Light Source’s contribution to the Baker work from an October 15th ALS press release.
